About Us

Cynthia Shaw is a professional New York State licensed mental health
counselor with 17 years of experience. Her practice is located in Nyack,
NY, which is in Rockland County on the western banks of the Hudson
River.

Cynthia has spent many years studying women's issues and working with
women individually, in groups and with couples. She has developed and
runs support groups for women (and their partners) on such topics as
postpartum adjustment, postpartum depression, infertility, midlife moms,
working moms, becoming a mom and becoming partners in parenting.
Her work with reproductive mental health and her passion for issues
regarding mothers and mothering have been inspired by the intimate and
sometimes painful stories of the many mothers she has known and has
worked with, as well as her own personal journey into motherhood.

Cynthia is a graduate of Simmons College in Boston, MA and received
her MA in Counseling Psychology from Antioch University in Keene,
NH. She is a member of numerous professional organizations including
American Counseling Association, New York Mental Health
Counselors Association, Resolve, American Infertility Association,
Postpartum Resource Center of New York, Postpartum Support
International, and Depression After Delivery.

Cynthia lives in Nyack, N.Y. with her husband and her two children.
